clarus, clear, bright, loud, distinct, renowned; perh. akin
to L. clamare to call, E. claim. Cf. {Chanticleer},
{Clairvoyant}, {Claret}, {Clarify}.]
1. Free from opaqueness; transparent; bright; light;
luminous; unclouded.
